ABOUT COASTAL FAMILY THERAPY
Coastal Family Therapy Services, is a charitable
organization, based in Newport Beach, California. We provide increased
access to mental health programs in Orange
County for at-risk families that have difficulty accessing these services.
These mental health programs concentrate on the prevention and intervention
of drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence, child abuse and neglect,
and violence among children.
OUR GOAL
The goal of Coastal Family Therapy Services is to prevent child abuse
and domestic violence by providing low cost mental health counseling services
in non-traditional settings to at-risk clients of other non-profit organizations
that provide services to families. Coastal also strives to increase the
competency of the professional staff of its Collaborators in assessing
the needs of at-risk clients for mental health referral and treatment,
which referral and treatment will be provided by Coastal.
PROGRAM STRATEGY
Coastal's program strategy is to send mental health staff with specialized
training out into existing agencies, where families find the environments
comfortable and familiar. Coastal has found, through best practices (research
based on the findings of the Orange County Children and Families Commission),
that adding services to the existing, familiar locations of Coastal's
Collaborators greatly increases the likelihood that client families will
use these services. Through collaboration with numerous agencies, Coastal
can access a high number of families, enhancing Collaborators' existing
services. In this way, Coastal will increase access to mental health services
for those who may not readily have access due to low income, transportation
difficulties, or comfort level. In using existing facilities to provide
services, Coastal is also able to limit overhead.
